What Canada Means to Me

Thirty-eight years ago, my family immigrated here from the former Yugoslavia in search of a better future. Shortly after we left, our homeland was devastated by the Yugoslav Wars. That history has never left me. It serves as a constant reminder that peace, stability, and the opportunity to build a life should never be taken for granted.

Growing up, I watched my parents work incredibly hard to build a business from the ground up. Like so many immigrant families, they made sacrifices so their children could have opportunities they never had themselves. Their work ethic, resilience, and determination shaped who I am today.

Because of Canada, I now have the privilege of owning and growing Wynwood Renovations alongside my family. Every project we complete, every employee we hire, and every family we help transform their home is possible because of the opportunities this country has provided.

I’m incredibly proud to raise my own children here, knowing they have the same chance to dream big, work hard, and build something meaningful.

This Canada Day, I’m grateful—not only for the life we’ve built, but for the opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to us.

From our family at Wynwood Renovations to yours, Happy Canada Day!
